Osman Bas
Rotterdam, 21, Party Organiser, Photographer
A few years ago I noticed there was a new cat in the Rotterdam partyscene. Maybe it was because we had the same hairstyle or maybe because he always was trying to set the party on fire, just like I use to try that. He is part of the new breed that is going to carry the Rotterdam partyscene on his shoulders for the upcoming time. Meet Osman.

Dhani: Who is Osman?
Osman: Hmm let me see Osman is… ‘me’! I am 21 years old. I don’t study at the moment. If I ever will?? Dont know…In daily life I work in an espressobar called Trenta Secondi and I make the best coffee in town so to speak.
Dhani: You contribute to the partyscene not only by wildin’ out on the dancefloor but you host party’s as well. Tell us about that.
Osman: Hosting party’s is a new thing for me. The urge to do that started when I caught myself complaining about the lack of things to do in the weekends. You and I both know that the Rotterdam partyscene is in a bit of a dip because there are only a few venues that organisers can use at the moment. That makes the variety of parties a bit limited. I came up with the idea to put my creative energy into organising a party called ‘Anaolg’ instead of complaining. ’Analog’ is a vinyl only party with a massive touch of soul and funkyness. The main focus is to get people appreciate real music. It’s working out well if I may say so. the first edition last July was awesome. We are going to do the same this saturday. You better come and take a look.

Dhani: What is your favourite track of the moment?
Osman: Ahhh men.. Youre killing me with this one. Let me think. Well now at this moment it is B.Lewis ft Mar – First of me. Big up for moovmnt and my boy Mar for that one. It’s a great tune.

Dhani: What is your favourite track of all time?
Osman: Hahaha this one I can’t answer man. There are so many tunes that are my favorite ones. So I am really sorry for this one. What I can tell you is which genre I like most and that is a definetly hip hop/soul/jazz. Haha here you go I named three genres already! Hard question here Dhani…
Dhani: You do photography as well. Is it an ambition of you to be succesfull in this branche?
Osman: Photography is a thing I do when I am in need of inspiration. And when I find my inspiration, I capture it and share it. That’s what photography is for me know.
It would be nice to expose the pictures I have taken sometime. If it find it’s recognition it’s all good but if not then it’s my memory of a good inspirated moment. Like this foto below. I took this one a long time ago but it is still one of my favorite ones. The mist gives you the feeling this bridge is somewhere up high.

One of the things I also like to shoot is ‘random beauty’ like this for example.

And this

If I see future in photography as in for a living? No. But as I said before. If there would be recognition for my work it would be stupid not to do anything with it.
Dhani: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Osman: I really don’t have a clue. I have never been that way, thinking about being somewhere in several years. I could say that I want to stay healthy, get my driving license, complete a study etc etc. But those are boring things, right? One of my dream is to open a Hip Hop cafe/bar in this city. But for now I would like to see Analog as a grown concept in 5 years because it has potential.
